I worked on building the brand identity of one of the largest student debate institutes in the world, World Schools Debate Institute. In the process for creating the brandbook, designing the logo, brochures and the website, I focused on the many possible ways of creating a scholarly but also a dynamic feel that would appeal both to students and faculty members.
The Weeks Bridge in Cambridge stood out to me as a great symbol to build the logo around due to its proximity to Harvard University and its historical heritage. Seeing many students socialize, read books or listen to music on this historical construction connecting the different parts of the Harvard community was a great metaphor for WSDI's vision and identity. I designed the logo by illustrating the Weeks Bridge with vibrant colors to give a dynamic twist to an old construction and ultimately to emphasize WSDI is a place where young students can generate ideas in a long-established platform.
